Web Design
Client :
Horizons Tatamis
Project Duration :
12 weeks

Objective :
Develop a professional, bilingual website for Horizons Tatamis, a non-profit martial arts organization in Montréal, to highlight their community initiatives and promote their Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai programs. The goal was to provide an online space that reflects their values of inclusion, discipline, and empowerment while simplifying access to class information, registration, and donations.

Initial Idea and Intent :
The initial idea was to design a site that goes beyond simply advertising classes, it needed to represent a community. The intent was to showcase Horizons Tatamis as a welcoming community hub where sports and social impact meet. This meant building a layout that felt both energetic and approachable, using bold visuals inspired by martial arts culture while keeping the experience clean, intuitive, and accessible for all ages.
Challenge :
The main challenge was balancing the dual identity of the organization: part sports academy, part social initiative. The design had to appeal to athletes, parents, and community supporters at the same time. Another hurdle was organizing multiple programs and schedules in a way that remained simple to navigate, while ensuring the site was responsive, fast, and easy for the client to update independently.
Summary :
The final website delivers a strong, community-driven online presence for Horizons Tatamis. It presents their mission, programs, and partnerships through clear structure and authentic visuals, encouraging visitors to engage — whether by joining classes, supporting the cause, or learning more about their impact.
