Create an intro animation and banner for a fictional DIY YouTube channel.

Project Duration :
3 Weeks

OBJECTIVE :
The goal of this project was to design a fifteen-second YouTube intro animation and a channel banner for a randomly assigned topic. This was the final assignment of the session, meant to showcase all the skills developed throughout the course — from compositing and masking to trajectory animation and rotoscoping. The deliverables included a fully organized After Effects project, a Photoshop banner file with linked assets, a final H.264 render of the intro, and clear documentation citing all sources and indicating where mandatory techniques were used.

INITIAL IDEA AND INTENT :
The first idea for this project was to create a simple, energetic YouTube intro that immediately captured the essence of the channel’s theme. Since the topic was assigned randomly, the goal was to find a creative angle that could still feel personal and visually engaging. I wanted the intro to feel dynamic and professional, something that could easily fit on a real channel while showing strong motion design skills. The banner was meant to complement the animation, carrying the same color palette, visual rhythm, and overall mood to build a clear, unified identity.
Challenge :
The main challenge was to create a visually cohesive intro and banner that matched the randomly assigned theme while staying original and technically precise. The animation needed to be exactly fifteen seconds long, in HD, and include specific techniques such as rotoscoping and trajectory animation, all without relying on copyrighted or AI-generated content. Another difficulty was ensuring that the animation and banner worked together as a unified visual identity for the channel, with a professional look that avoided pixelation or poor-quality assets.
SOLUTION :
To address these constraints, I started with research and inspiration boards to define a clear visual style. High-resolution, royalty-free images and video elements were carefully selected from trusted sources like Pexels and Unsplash to guarantee quality. In After Effects, I used masks, adjustment layers, and keyframe animation to create smooth, polished motion. Rotoscoping was applied to isolate key elements and integrate them into the composition seamlessly, while trajectory animation was used to guide movement in a natural way. The color palette and visual style of the animation were carried over to the banner to ensure visual consistency across the channel’s identity. The final deliverables met all technical specifications, were well-organized, and presented a cohesive, professional result.
